Cursor Pricing 2026: Plans and Real Cost

Cursor plans and prices at a glance

Cursor's official pricing page currently shows three individual paid tiers and two Teams seat types.

Annual billing saves 20% at the displayed rates. For a solo Pro user, that is $48 over twelve months; Pro+ saves $144 and Ultra saves $480. The tradeoff is commitment: monthly billing is safer while you are still learning how much Agent usage your model mix consumes.

The subscription price is not the whole cost

Cursor's Models & Pricing documentation separates usage into two monthly pools:

Different models have different token prices, so “how many requests” is not a stable conversion. A short Composer task and a long frontier-model Agent run can consume very different shares of a plan. Cursor's current guidance says daily Tab users and limited Agent users often stay within included usage; daily Agent users commonly land around $60–$100 of total monthly usage, while multiple agents or automations can exceed $200.

That guidance is more useful than an old fixed-request table. The live pricing page expresses paid individual capacity as relative limits—Pro+, 3× Pro; Ultra, 20× Pro—while the signed-in Spending view shows the actual pools, remaining allowance, and on-demand charges for your account.

What happens when you hit a Cursor limit?

According to Cursor's usage and limits guide, usage resets with your monthly billing cycle and unused allowance does not roll over. When a pool is exhausted, Cursor offers two paths: enable on-demand usage at current API rates or upgrade.

Before enabling pay-as-you-go, check three things in the Spending tab:

1. Which pool ran out: Cursor Models or Other Models.
2. Which model and long-running tasks consumed most of it.
3. Whether the next tier costs less than a typical month of overages.

Upgrades to Pro, Pro+, or Ultra take effect immediately. Cursor says the credit for the old plan is based on unused included usage, not simply unused calendar days. Downgrades are scheduled for the end of the billing period.

Pro vs Pro+ vs Ultra: which is worth it?

Choose Pro when Cursor is a regular editor but Agent is not running continuously. At $20 monthly, it is the sensible baseline because it unlocks both usage pools, frontier models, Cloud Agents, MCPs, skills, hooks, and usage-based Bugbot.

Choose Pro+ when the Spending view repeatedly shows that Pro capacity—not one unusually expensive model choice—is the constraint. Its price is exactly 3× Pro and the page advertises 3× Pro Agent limits, making the decision unusually clean.

Choose Ultra for sustained heavy Agent work where 20× Pro limits and priority access are operationally useful. It is not automatically economical for occasional spikes: $200 buys ten Pro subscriptions' worth of headline price, so compare it with measured on-demand spend first.

Rob Shocks' March 2026 walkthrough tests Composer 2 and discusses performance and cost in a real build. It is useful workload context, not a substitute for Cursor's current plan table; Composer has since advanced to 2.5 and live rates can change.

What Teams adds—and what it charges

Teams Standard costs $40 per user monthly, double the Pro price. The extra spend is for centralized billing and administration, a team marketplace for internal rules and plugins, shared-context automations, Bugbot code review, usage analytics, privacy-mode enforcement, and SAML/OIDC SSO.

Teams Premium should be a usage decision, not an admin-feature decision: it has the same collaboration layer but 5× Standard Agent limits. Enterprise becomes relevant when pooled usage, invoices or purchase orders, SCIM, audit logs, model and network controls, or support requirements matter.

On Teams and Enterprise, third-party model requests also carry a published Cursor Token Rate of $0.25 per million tokens on top of model API pricing. Cursor's own Grok and Composer models are exempt.

How to choose without overpaying

Run one billing cycle on the lowest plan that supports the workflow, then use the Spending dashboard rather than request-count folklore. Separate first-party Cursor Models from third-party models, note whether spikes come from Fast modes or unusually long Agent runs, and compare recurring overages with the next tier's fixed price.

How to catch a Cursor pricing change

Use Cursor's dashboard for private usage and invoices.
